Kubera’s Fivefold Nīti and Protection of the Pāṇḍavas (वैश्रवणोपदेशः)
श्रूयते बहुधा भीम सर्वभूतमनोहर: । महागज्जामुदीक्षस्व पुण्यां देवनदीं शुभाम्
śrūyate bahudhā bhīma sarvabhūtamanoharaḥ | mahāgajjāmudīkṣasva puṇyāṃ devanadīṃ śubhām ||
Vaiśampāyana said: “O Bhīma, it is heard in many ways (and widely proclaimed) that this river is delightful to the hearts of all beings. Behold this auspicious, holy river of the gods—radiant and blessed.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights reverence for sacred places: a holy river is praised as universally pleasing and spiritually meritorious, encouraging attentive, respectful contemplation of what tradition celebrates as auspicious.
Vaiśampāyana addresses Bhīma and draws his attention to a renowned divine river, describing it as holy and auspicious and urging him to look upon it.
