Kubera’s Fivefold Nīti and Protection of the Pāṇḍavas (वैश्रवणोपदेशः)

atītānāgate vidvān kuśalaḥ sarvadharmavit | vṛṣaparvā bhūta-bhaviṣya-jñaḥ kāryakuśalaḥ samasta-dharma-marmajñaḥ | sa dharmavid rājā bharataśreṣṭhān pāṇḍavān putravat upadiśya | tasya ājñāṃ prāpya mahāmanāḥ pāṇḍavā uttaradiśaṃ prati jagmuḥ |

Vaiśampāyana said: Vṛṣaparvā was wise in matters past and future, skilled in practical affairs, and a knower of all dharma. That righteous king instructed the Pāṇḍavas—best of the Bharatas—as though they were his own sons. Having received his command, the high-minded Pāṇḍavas set out toward the northern direction.
