मया तु निहते तस्मिन् रावणे लोककण्टके । कीर्तिनिश्येद् राघवस्य तत एतदुपेक्षितम्,किंतु सम्पूर्ण लोकोंको काँटेके समान कष्ट देनेवाला रावण यदि मेरे ही हाथों मारा जाता, तो भगवान् श्रीरामचन्द्रजीकी कीर्ति नष्ट हो जाती। इसीलिये मैंने उसकी उपेक्षा कर दी
Translation
“But had I slain Rāvaṇa, the scourge and thorn of the worlds, with my own hands, the glory of Rāghava (Śrī Rāma) would have been diminished. Therefore I let him be.”
