सत्यात् प्रच्यवमानानां व्याधयो बहवो5भवन् । कामाश्षोपद्रवाश्वैव तदा वै दैवकारिता:,सत्यसे भ्रष्ट होनेके कारण द्वापरके लोगोंमें अनेक प्रकारके रोग उत्पन्न हो जाते हैं। उनके मनमें अनेक प्रकारकी कामनाएँ पैदा होती हैं और वे बहुत-से दैवी उपद्रवोंसे भी पीड़ित हो जाते हैं
Translation
As they fell away from truth (satya), in the Dvāpara age many kinds of diseases arose among people. Many desires (kāma) sprang up in their minds, and they were also afflicted by numerous calamities wrought by divine forces (daiva).
