Vaiśampāyana said: “Welcome here in every way today, O best of men. Here are roots and fruits, sweet as nectar, O jewel among humans. Eat these and return from here; otherwise your life may fall into danger for no good reason. O bull among men—if my words seem beneficial, be sure to accept them.”

Educational Q&A

Offer hospitality and give timely, welfare-oriented counsel: accept what sustains life (simple forest food) and avoid needless risk; heeding beneficial advice is presented as a mark of wisdom and dharma.

The narrator reports a speaker welcoming a heroic visitor, offering nectar-like roots and fruits, and urging him to turn back after eating, warning that proceeding further would place his life in unnecessary danger.
