Bhīmasena–Hanūmān Saṃvāda: The Tail Test and the Divine Path
द्रौपद्या वनवासिन्या: प्रियं कर्तु समुद्यत: । सो<चिन्तयद् गते स्वर्गमर्जुने मयि चागते,मतवाले हाथीके समान ही उनकी लाल-लाल आँखें थीं। वे समरभूमिमें मदोन्मत्त हाथियोंको भी पीछे हटानेमें समर्थ थे। अपने प्रियतमके पार्श्वभागमें बैठी हुई यक्ष और गन्धर्वोकी युवतियाँ सब प्रकारकी चेष्टाओंसे निवृत्त हो स्वयं अलक्षित रहकर भीमसेनकी ओर देख रही थीं। वे उन्हें सौन्दर्यके नूतन अवतार-से प्रतीत होते थे। इस प्रकार पाण्डुनन्दन भीम गन्धमादनके रमणीय शिखरोंपर खेल-सा करते हुए विचरने लगे। वे दुर्योधनद्वारा दिये गये नाना प्रकारके असंख्य क्लेशोंका स्मरण करते हुए वनवासिनी द्रौपदीका प्रिय करनेके लिये उद्यत हुए थे। उन्होंने मन-ही-मन सोचा--“अर्जुन स्वर्गलोकमें चले गये हैं और मैं फूल लेनेके लिये इधर चला आया हूँ। ऐसी दशामें आर्य युधिष्ठिर कोई कार्य कैसे करेंगे? नरश्रेष्ठ महाराज युधिष्ठिर नकुल और सहदेवपर अत्यन्त स्नेह रखते हैं। उन दोनोंके बलपर उन्हें विश्वास नहीं है। अतः वे निश्चय ही उन्हें नहीं छोड़ेंगे, अर्थात् कहीं नहीं भेजेंगे। अब कैसे मुझे शीघ्र वह फूल प्राप्त हो जाय--यह चिन्ता करते हुए नरश्रेष्ठ भीम पक्षिराज गरुड़के समान वेगसे आगे बढ़े। उनके मन और नेत्र फूलोंसे भरे हुए पर्वतीय शिखरोंपर लगे हुए थे
Vaiśampāyana uvāca | draupadyā vanavāsinyāḥ priyaṃ kartuṃ samudyataḥ | so 'cintayad gate svargam arjune mayi cāgate ||
Vaiśampāyana said: Intent on doing what would please Draupadī in her forest exile, Bhīma reflected: “Arjuna has gone to the heavenly realms, and I have come here in search of the flowers. In such a situation, how will noble Yudhiṣṭhira manage the necessary tasks?” His thought reveals both his concern for the household’s safety in Arjuna’s absence and his resolve to ease Draupadī’s hardship by fulfilling her wish.
