Arrogance, Boons, and Nimitta
यदास्य वदतो वाक्य न स चक्रे द्विजोत्तम: | वालुकाभिस्तत: शक्रो गड़ां समभिपूरयन्,द्विजश्रेष्ठ यवक्रीतने जब इन्द्रका कहना नहीं माना, तब वे बालूसे गंगाजीको भरने लगे
yadāsya vadato vākyaṁ na sa cakre dvijottamaḥ | vālukābhis tataḥ śakro gaḍāṁ samabhipūrayan ||
When the excellent brāhmaṇa did not comply with the words spoken to him, Śakra (Indra) then began filling a water-pot with sand—an act meant to thwart and test him, showing how divine power may obstruct one’s aim when humility and right conduct are not upheld.
