अष्टावक्र-प्रवेशः तथा ब्रह्मोद्य-प्रारम्भः

Aṣṭāvakra’s Entry and the Opening of the Brahmodya

सम्पीड्यमाना तु तदा सुजाता सा वर्धमानेन सुतेन कुक्षौ । उवाच भर्तारमिदं रहोगता प्रसाद्य हीनं वसुना धनार्थिनी,जब पेटमें गर्भ बढ़ रहा था, उस समय सुजाताने उससे पीड़ित होकर एकान्तमें अपने निर्धन पतिसे धनकी इच्छा रखकर कहा--

sampīḍyamānā tu tadā sujātā sā vardhamānena sutena kukṣau | uvāca bhartāram idaṃ rahogatā prasādya hīnaṃ vasunā dhanārthinī ||

As the child in her womb continued to grow, Sujātā, distressed by the burden, went in private to her husband. Seeking wealth because they were poor, she tried to win his favor and spoke—
