Pilgrimage to Sea Tīrthas, Śūrpāraka, and Prabhāsa
ततः सहस्राणि गवां प्रदाय तीर्थेषु तेष्वम्बुधरोत्तमस्य । हृष्ट: सह भ्रातृभिरर्जुनस्य संकीर्तयामास गवां प्रदानम्,तदनन्तर समुद्रतटवर्ती उन सभी तीर्थोर्में सहस्रों गोदान करके भाइयोंसहित युधिष्छिरने प्रसन्नतापूर्वक अर्जुनके द्वारा किये हुए गोदानका बारंबार वर्णन किया
tataḥ sahasrāṇi gavāṁ pradāya tīrtheṣu teṣv ambudharottamasya | hṛṣṭaḥ saha bhrātṛbhir arjunasya saṅkīrtayāmāsa gavāṁ pradānam ||
Then, after giving away thousands of cows at those sacred fords along the shore of the great ocean, Yudhiṣṭhira—delighted and accompanied by his brothers—repeatedly proclaimed and celebrated Arjuna’s act of gifting cows.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Righteous giving (dāna), especially go-dāna, performed in a sacred context and with a pure intention, is a dharmic act that generates merit and becomes worthy of remembrance; praising such virtue reinforces ethical norms within the community.
After donating thousands of cows at various tīrthas near the ocean, Yudhiṣṭhira, together with his brothers, joyfully and repeatedly recounts and celebrates Arjuna’s cow-gift, emphasizing its significance.
