Educational Q&A

The verse warns that sheer numbers and martial prowess, when joined with excessive pride (darpa), tend toward collective downfall, whereas a single worthy heir can preserve a dynasty through steadier virtue and resilience.

A speaker delivers a prophetic pronouncement to a king: one wife will bear an enormous host of proud warrior sons destined to be destroyed together, while the other wife will bear one heroic son who will carry forward the family line.
