O King, learning that the time had come to give her in marriage, Mātali—his mind fixed on that very matter—deliberated and reflected carefully together with his wife.

Major life duties—especially marriage arrangements—should be approached with focused attention, careful reflection, and consultation within the household, reflecting responsible dharma rather than haste.
Kaṇva narrates that Mātali, upon realizing that the appropriate time had arrived to give the girl in marriage, sits with his wife and thoughtfully deliberates on the matter, preparing for the next steps in arranging the match.
