Kuntī’s Lament and Govinda’s Consolation
āvṛtāni varastrībhiḥ guhāṇi sumahānty api | pracalantīva bhāreṇa dṛśyante sama mahītale ||
Vaiśampāyana said: Even the very large mansions, packed full with beautiful women gathered to behold Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa, appeared on the level ground as though they were swaying under the weight of the crowd.
The verse highlights the magnetic, auspicious presence of Śrī Kṛṣṇa: people—here, especially noble women—are drawn to behold him, suggesting reverence and devotion expressed through collective public gathering.
As Kṛṣṇa is to be seen, crowds assemble in such numbers that even large residences appear to tremble under the weight of those packed inside, conveying the scale of the gathering and the excitement of the moment.
