Envoy-Ethics Debate

Vidura said: “Since you stand in the final stage of life, what you speak in this situation is indeed sound—whether grounded in śāstra or in clear worldly reasoning. It is precisely because your judgment is so steady that you are truly ‘sthavira’, an elder in the real sense.”

Educational Q&A

True elderhood is not merely biological age but steadiness of discernment; sound counsel is validated both by śāstra (scriptural authority) and by tarka (clear reasoning).

Vidura addresses an older interlocutor, affirming that the person’s words—spoken in a grave, late-life context—are reliable and well-founded, and praising the stability of their judgment as the mark of a genuine elder.
