Omens and Reception During Keśava’s Departure
yāhāviṣṇena vai vīra drakṣyāmastvāṃ sabhāgatam | āsīnamāsane divye balatejaḥ-samāhitam ||
Vaiśaṃpāyana said: “O hero, we now take our leave after seeking your permission. We shall see you again—may your journey be free from hindrance. When you arrive in the royal assembly and are seated upon the splendid throne, we shall once more behold you, your person composed and endowed with strength and radiance.”
The verse highlights dharmic conduct in public and private life: one should take leave respectfully, offer blessings for an obstacle-free journey, and value inner composure (samāhita) alongside outer power and brilliance (bala, tejas) as marks of worthy leadership.
The speaker (Vaiśaṃpāyana) reports a courteous farewell: the speakers depart after asking permission, express the wish to meet again in the royal assembly, and anticipate seeing the hero seated on a splendid throne, radiant with strength and disciplined presence.
