अध्याय ८२ — केशवप्रयाणे निमित्तदर्शनम्
Omens and Reception During Keśava’s Departure
भीष्म द्रोणं कृपं चैव महाराजं च बाह्विकम् | द्रौ्णिंच सोमदत्तं च सर्वाश्ष भरतान् प्रति
bhīṣmaṃ droṇaṃ kṛpaṃ caiva mahārājaṃ ca bāhvīkam | drauṇiṃ ca somadattaṃ ca sarvāṃś ca bharatān prati ||
Yudhiṣṭhira said: “(I shall address) Bhīṣma, Droṇa, and Kṛpa; and also the king Bāhlīka; and Aśvatthāmā (son of Droṇa), and Somadatta—indeed all the Bharatas.” In this moment, Yudhiṣṭhira’s speech frames the coming appeal not as mere political bargaining but as a dharmic address to revered elders and kinsmen whose authority and conscience are central to restraining violence.
