Puruṣottama-nāma-nirvacana

एतज्ज्ञानं विदुर्विप्रा ध्रुवमिन्द्रियधारणम्‌ । एतऊज्ञानं च पन्थाक्ष येन यान्ति मनीषिण:,इन्द्रियोंको दृढ़तापूर्वक संयममें रखना चाहिये। विद्वान्‌ ब्राह्मण इसीको ज्ञान मानते हैं। यह ज्ञान ही वह मार्ग है, जिससे मनीषी पुरुष चलते हैं

sañjaya uvāca |

etaj jñānaṃ vidur viprā dhruvam indriya-dhāraṇam |

etad ū jñānaṃ ca panthāś ca yena yānti manīṣiṇaḥ ||

Sañjaya said: “The learned Brāhmaṇas know this as true knowledge—steadfast mastery of the senses. This indeed is knowledge, and this is the path by which the wise proceed.”
