Duryodhana said: “When we had driven the sons of Pṛthā into exile in the forest, then Madhusūdana (Kṛṣṇa) came here, accompanied by a vast, wheel-like host of troops—an army able to grind the kingdoms of enemies into dust.”
दुर्योधन उवाच
The verse highlights how political wrongdoing (driving the Pāṇḍavas into exile) triggers countervailing alliances and power. Ethically, it underscores that adharma invites resistance and that strength in a righteous cause can gather formidable support.
Duryodhana recalls an earlier moment: after the Pāṇḍavas were sent to the forest, Kṛṣṇa came with a large military following. He uses this memory to emphasize the Pāṇḍavas’ strong backing and the threat posed by their allies.
