dvārakāṃ tu gate kṛṣṇe yudhiṣṭhira-purogamāḥ | cakruḥ sāṅgrāmikaṃ sarvaṃ virāṭaś ca mahīpatiḥ ||
When Kṛṣṇa had departed for Dvārakā, Yudhiṣṭhira—at the head of the Pāṇḍavas—together with King Virāṭa, set about making every preparation for war.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores responsible action in accordance with dharma: once a phase of counsel or movement (Kṛṣṇa’s departure) concludes, leaders must prepare diligently for the duties that remain—here, the grave duty of war—without frivolity, but with organized readiness and allied cooperation.
After Kṛṣṇa leaves for Dvārakā, Yudhiṣṭhira leads the Pāṇḍavas, and along with King Virāṭa they begin comprehensive martial preparations—signaling that events are moving toward open conflict and that their side is consolidating readiness and support.
