Educational Q&A

The verse highlights steadfast commitment to a chosen cause: capable warriors are praised not merely for strength but for resolute alignment with an ethical-political side (here, support of the Pāṇḍavas), suggesting that valor gains meaning through purposeful allegiance.

Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that two powerful Magadhan heroes—Sahadeva and Jayatsena, identified as Jarāsandha’s sons—have positioned themselves in support of the Pāṇḍavas, indicating the consolidation of forces and alliances on the eve of conflict.
