Sanjaya said: If that man does not regard himself as bound by the consequences of his actions, and if he does not consider us to be superior to him, even then I still cherish this hope: with Vasudeva (Krishna) as my second, I shall strike down Duryodhana together with all who are bound to him—his allies and kinsmen.

The verse contrasts moral blindness with moral confidence: Duryodhana is portrayed as disregarding karmic accountability and misjudging others, while the speaker’s resolve rests on rightful support—symbolized by Krishna—implying that power aligned with dharma and awareness of karma ultimately prevails over arrogant denial.
In the tense pre-war negotiations of the Udyoga Parva, Sanjaya reports a declaration of determination against Duryodhana. The speaker expresses hope of defeating and killing Duryodhana along with his supporters, specifically emphasizing Krishna (Vasudeva) as the decisive ally.
