Sanatsujāta on Vedic Learning, Truth (Satya), and the Discipline of Dama–Tyāga–Apramāda

Sanatsujāta said: Those who enter here into the lineage and shelter of a true teacher, becoming as it were ‘within the womb’ of disciplined training, and who live the vow of brahmacarya—such people, even in this very life, become authoritative formulators and transmitters of sacred teaching. Having cast off the body, they attain the supreme Yoga, union with the Highest Self.
सनत्सुजात उवाच
Disciplined discipleship under a true teacher—especially the vow and conduct of brahmacarya—purifies and matures a person so that they become competent to understand and transmit śāstra in this life, and ultimately attain the supreme realization (parama-yoga) after death.
In the Sanatsujātīya section of Udyoga Parva, Sanatsujāta instructs (in a didactic setting) on the path of knowledge and liberation. Here he praises the transformative power of entering a teacher’s lineage and living strict student-discipline, linking ethical restraint with both learning and final spiritual attainment.
