priyaśvaidhāmātmasamaśna kṛṣṇo vidvāñ śraiṣāṃ karmaṇi nityayuktaḥ | samānītān pāṇḍavān sṛñjayāṃś ca janārdanaṃ yuyudhānaṃ virāṭam ||
Vaiśampāyana said: Kṛṣṇa—beloved of all and even-minded toward every being—ever steadfast in what is best to be done, gathered the Pāṇḍavas and the Sṛñjayas, together with Janārdana, Yuyudhāna, and King Virāṭa. The narrative thus highlights Kṛṣṇa’s unwavering commitment to right action and his power to unite allies upon a dharma-grounded path as conflict drew near.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights Kṛṣṇa’s ethical steadiness: a wise leader remains impartial (ātma-sama) and continually committed to the best course of action (śreṣṭha-karma), especially when guiding others toward a dharma-aligned decision in times of crisis.
As the conflict with the Kauravas approaches, Kṛṣṇa brings together key Pāṇḍava allies—Pāṇḍavas, Sṛñjayas, Sātyaki (Yuyudhāna), and King Virāṭa—signaling coordinated counsel and preparation through unity among supporters.
