Drupada’s Alarm and Inquiry Regarding Śikhaṇḍinī (द्रुपदस्य भय-विमर्शः)

यन्मे कन्यां स्वकन्यार्थे वृतवानसि दुर्मते । फलं तस्यावलेपस्य द्रक्ष्यस्यद्य न संशय:,और कहा--'दूत! मेरे कथनानुसार राजाओंमें अधम उस पांचालनरेशसे कहिये। दुर्मते! तुमने जो अपनी कन्याके लिये मेरी कनन्‍्याका वरण किया था, उस घमंडका फल तुम्हें आज देखना पड़ेगा, इसमें संशय नहीं है”

yan me kanyāṁ svakanyārthe vṛtavān asi durmate | phalaṁ tasyāvalepasya drakṣyasy adya na saṁśayaḥ ||

Bhīṣma said: “O wicked-minded one, since you chose my maiden for the sake of your own daughter, you shall today behold the consequence of that arrogance—of this there is no doubt.”
