Śikhaṇḍinī’s Marriage Arrangement and the Daśārṇa Envoy’s Accusation (शिखण्डिनी-विवाह-विप्रलम्भ-प्रसङ्गः)
एतच्छुत्वा द्रुपदो यज्ञसेन: सर्व तत्त्वं मन्त्रविद्धयो निवेद्य । मन्त्र राजा मन्त्रयामास राजन् यथायुक्तं रक्षणे वै प्रजानाम्,यह सुनकर यज्ञसेन द्रुपदने मन्त्रियोंको सब बातें ठीक-ठीक बता दीं। राजन! तत्पश्चात् प्रजाकी रक्षाके लिये जैसी व्यवस्था उचित है, उसके लिये उन्होंने पुनः मन्त्रियोंके साथ गुप्त मन्त्रणा की
etac chrutvā drupado yajñasenaḥ sarva-tattvaṁ mantraviddhyo nivedya | mantra-rājā mantrayāmāsa rājan yathā-yuktaṁ rakṣaṇe vai prajānām ||
Bhishma said: Hearing this, Drupada—also known as Yajñasena—reported the entire matter accurately to his knowledgeable ministers. Then, O king, with the protection of the people in view, he again held a confidential consultation with his council, arranging whatever measures were proper for safeguarding his subjects.
भीष्म उवाच
A king’s dharma includes transparent reporting of facts to competent advisers and then taking prudent, situation-appropriate measures to protect the people; governance is shown as deliberative and responsibility-centered.
After receiving certain information, Drupada (Yajñasena) briefs his ministers fully and accurately, and then holds a secret council to decide the proper arrangements for the security and welfare of his subjects.
