भीष्मस्वप्न-स्मृत्युपाख्यानम् | Bhīṣma’s Dream-Linked Recollection of the Paraśurāma Combat

यदैव हि वन प्रायात्‌ सा कन्या तपसे धृता । तदैव व्यथितो दीनो गतचेता इवाभवम्‌,जिस दिन वह कन्या तपस्याका निश्चय करके वनमें गयी, उसी दिन मैं व्यथित, दीन और अचेत-सा हो गया

yadaiva hi vana-prāyāt sā kanyā tapase dhṛtā | tadaiva vyathito dīno gata-ceta iva abhavam ||

The very day that maiden, having resolved upon austerities, set out for the forest, that same day I became afflicted and despondent—almost as if bereft of consciousness.
