ततो युद्ध समभवन्मम तस्य च भारत | दिवसान्‌ सुबहून्‌ राजन्‌ परस्परजिगीषया,राजन! भरतनन्दन! तदनन्तर एक-दूसरेको जीतनेकी इच्छासे मेरा तथा परशुरामजीका युद्ध बहुत दिनोंतक चलता रहा

tato yuddhaṃ samabhavan mama tasya ca bhārata | divasān subahūn rājan parasparajigīṣayā ||

Then a battle arose between me and him, O descendant of Bharata. For many days, O King, driven by the mutual desire to conquer one another, my combat with Paraśurāma continued without respite—each striving for victory over the other.
