Bhīṣma said: “Eager for the glory of the Pāṇḍavas, Satyajit—the youthful son of Drupada—ever intent on battle, will perform deeds of the highest order. Like Dhṛṣṭadyumna, he has already attained the rank of an atiratha. Seeking to expand the Pāṇḍavas’ fame, he will accomplish great exploits in the war.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights the kṣatriya ideal of committed service to one’s chosen cause: a warrior’s excellence is framed not merely as personal prowess but as purposeful action undertaken for the honor and success of one’s allies.
In Udyoga Parva’s preparations for war, Bhīṣma is describing notable fighters. Here he praises Satyajit, Drupada’s son, as an atiratha who will fight powerfully for the Pāṇḍavas to increase their renown.
