Agni-hymn, discovery of Indra, and the Nahuṣa threat
svaṃ caiva vapur āsthāya babhūva sa balānvitaḥ | abravīc ca guruṃ devo bṛhaspatim avasthitam ||
Having regained his own bodily form, he became endowed once more with strength and prowess. Then Indra, lord of the gods, addressed his preceptor Bṛhaspati, who stood there—signaling the return of rightful order and the seeking of counsel before decisive action.
The verse highlights ethical leadership: after regaining rightful strength and position, one should seek guidance from a qualified teacher (guru) before acting. Power is framed as something to be aligned with counsel and proper order, not used impulsively.
Indra has returned to his own body/form and thus becomes strong again. Immediately afterward, he addresses his preceptor Bṛhaspati, who is present, indicating a moment of consultation or instruction following a restoration of Indra’s condition.
