परिहृत्य श्मशानानि देवतायतनानि च । आश्रमांश्व महर्षीणां तीर्थान्यायतनानि च,श्मशान, देवमन्दिर, महर्षियोंके आश्रम, तीर्थ और सिद्धक्षेत्र--इन सबका परित्याग करके उन स्थानोंसे बहुत दूर ऊसररहित मनोहर शुद्ध एवं पवित्र स्थानमें जाकर कुन्तीपुत्र महामति युधिष्ठटिरने अपनी सेनाको ठहराया

parihṛtya śmaśānāni devatāyatanāni ca | āśramāṁś ca maharṣīṇāṁ tīrthāny āyatanāni ca ||

Vaiśampāyana said: Avoiding cremation grounds, temples of the gods, the hermitages of great seers, and sacred fords and holy precincts, the wise son of Kuntī, Yudhiṣṭhira, led his forces far away and encamped in a pleasant, clean, and pure place—so that the army’s presence would not disturb sanctified sites or violate the reverence due to them.
