Sañjaya said: Then Rādheya (Karna), mounting his own chariot adorned with Jāmbūnada-gold, turned back and returned with us, his mind cast down.

Even great strength and status do not prevent moral and emotional consequences; a warrior may outwardly act with resolve yet inwardly feel dejection when confronted by difficult counsel, looming conflict, or the burden of choices.
Sañjaya reports that Karna, after the preceding exchange of events, mounts his gold-adorned chariot and returns with the group, visibly downcast—signaling a shift in mood and the gravity of the situation as war draws nearer.
