Upaśruti Guides Indrāṇī to Indra; Indrāṇī Reports Nahuṣa’s Misconduct
pativratā ca yuktā ca yamena niyamena ca | darśayiṣyāmi te śakraṃ devaṃ vṛtraniṣūdanam ||
“Since you are a devoted wife and are disciplined through the restraints of yama and niyama, I shall grant you the vision of Śakra—Indra, the god who slew Vṛtra.”
The verse links spiritual privilege (a divine vision) to ethical integrity and disciplined conduct: pativratā-dharma together with yama (restraints) and niyama (observances) is presented as a basis for higher spiritual experience.
Śalya addresses someone praised as pativratā and morally disciplined, and promises to show her Śakra (Indra), identified by the epithet “slayer of Vṛtra,” indicating an impending divine encounter granted due to her virtues.
