Vāyu said: “I have always prayed that you be granted the virtues and powers that uphold dharma—sacrifice (yajña), generosity, austerity (tapas), valor, discernment, worthy progeny, greatness of spirit, strength, and ojas, vital energy.”
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse frames an ideal ethical endowment: ritual responsibility (yajña), generosity (dāna), disciplined restraint (tapas), courage (śaurya), discernment (prajñā), continuity of dharma through progeny (santāna), and the inner and outer powers (māhātmya, bala, ojas) needed to sustain righteous action.
Vāyudeva speaks as a divine well-wisher, expressing that he has continually desired and prayed that the addressed person should obtain a complete set of virtues and strengths—both moral qualities and empowering capacities—befitting a dharmic life and leadership.
