Chapter 86
व्यूहयन्त्रायुधानां च तत्त्वज्ञो विक्रमान्वित: । वर्षशीतोष्णवातानां सहिष्णु: पररन्ध्रवित्,इनके सिवा वह व्यूहरचना (मोर्चाबंदी), यन्त्रोंके प्रयोग तथा नाना प्रकारके अन्यान्य अस्त्र-शस्त्रोंकी चलानेकी कलाका तत्त्वज्ञ-विशेष जानकार हो, पराक्रमी हो, सर्दी, गर्मी, आँधी और वषकि कष्टको धैर्यपूर्वक सहनेवाला तथा शत्रुओंके छिद्रको समझनेवाला हो
vyūhayantrāyudhānāṁ ca tattvajño vikramānvitaḥ | varṣaśītoṣṇavātānāṁ sahiṣṇuḥ pararandhravit ||
Bhishma said: He should be a true expert in the principles of battle-formations, military engines, and weapons; endowed with valor; patient in enduring rain, cold, heat, and wind; and skilled at discerning the enemy’s vulnerabilities. Such qualities, beyond mere strength, mark the disciplined warrior who can act effectively and responsibly in war.
