Bhīṣma teaches that one should abandon arrogance and, with humility, honor those worthy of respect. One should serve one’s teachers without deceit, worship the gods without ostentation, and seek prosperity only through blameless, untainted means. In this way, social conduct, spiritual practice, and material aspiration are all brought under the discipline of dharma.
