अभृतानां च भरणं भृतानां चान्ववेक्षणम्‌ । अर्थस्य काले दानं च व्यसने चाप्रसज्धिता

Transliteration

abhṛtānāṃ ca bharaṇaṃ bhṛtānāṃ cānvavekṣaṇam | arthasya kāle dānaṃ ca vyasane cāprasajdhitā

Translation

Bhishma said: The duties of a righteous householder include supporting those who are not yet maintained, looking after those already under one’s care, giving wealth at the proper time, and remaining unshaken and unentangled in times of calamity.
