Atithi-prāpti and the Brāhmaṇa’s Deliberation on Triadic Dharma (अतिथिप्राप्तिः धर्मत्रयविचारश्च)
यश्चेदं शृणुयान्नित्यं यश्नैनं परिकीर्तयेत् । नमो भगवते कृत्वा समाहितमतिर्नर:
yaś cedaṃ śṛṇuyān nityaṃ yaś cainaṃ parikīrtayet | namo bhagavate kṛtvā samāhitamatir naraḥ |
Vaiśampāyana said: Whoever listens to this regularly, and whoever recites or proclaims it—having first bowed in reverence to the Blessed Lord and fixing the mind in concentration—becomes wise, strong, handsome, and free from disease. One who is ill is released from illness, and one who is bound is released from bondage.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Regular listening and recitation of a sacred teaching, performed with reverence to Bhagavān and a concentrated mind, is presented as a dharmic discipline that cultivates virtues (wisdom, strength, excellence) and alleviates suffering (freedom from illness and bondage).
Vaiśampāyana is describing the promised fruits (phalaśruti) of hearing and proclaiming the preceding discourse: the listener/reciter, after offering salutation to the Lord and focusing the mind, gains well-being and release from afflictions.
