Puruṣaikatva-vyākhyāna: The One Virāṭ Puruṣa and the Many ‘Puruṣas’

चक्रे वसुस्तत: पूजां विष्वक्सेनाय भारत । जप्यं जगौ च सततं नारायणमुखोद्गतम्,भारत! तदनन्तर वसुने भगवान् विष्वक्सेनकी पूजा आरम्भ की और भगवान् नारायणके मुखसे प्रकट हुए जपनीय मन्त्र (32 नमो नारायणाय) का निरन्तर जप करने लगे
cakre vasus tataḥ pūjāṃ viṣvaksenāya bhārata | japyaṃ jagau ca satataṃ nārāyaṇamukhodgatam ||
Bhishma said: “Then Vasu, O Bharata, began the worship of Viṣvaksena. And he continually recited the sacred, japa-worthy mantra that had issued from the mouth of Nārāyaṇa.” The passage highlights devotion expressed through disciplined worship and steady repetition of a divinely revealed mantra.
भीष्म उवाच
Steady devotion is shown through two complementary practices: formal worship (pūjā) and continuous mantra-repetition (japa), especially when the mantra is regarded as divinely revealed and thus spiritually authoritative.
Bhīṣma narrates that Vasu begins worship of Viṣvaksena and then keeps chanting a japa-worthy mantra said to have emerged from Nārāyaṇa’s mouth, emphasizing sustained devotional practice.
