Educational Q&A

Worldly experience is unpredictable: each passing night can bring unprecedented, unforeseen pleasant or unpleasant events. Therefore one should not rely on expectation or fear alone, but cultivate steadiness of mind and adherence to dharma amid changing circumstances.

Nārada is instructing by reflection on time’s passage: as nights come and go, they ‘carry’ new and unexpected happenings for people—both favorable and unfavorable—highlighting the instability of human fortunes.
