देवतापितृप्रश्नः — Nārada at Badarīāśrama: the ultimate referent of daiva and pitṛ worship
sañcinoty aśubhaṃ karma kalatrāpekṣayā naraḥ | tataḥ kleśam avāpnoti paratreha tathaiva ca ||
Vyāsa said: A man, out of attachment and dependence upon his wife, accumulates sinful deeds. From that he comes to grief—suffering the consequences both here in this world and likewise in the world beyond.
व्यास उवाच
Attachment-driven partiality can push a person into unethical actions; such aśubha-karma inevitably yields kleśa—suffering—both in this life (iha) and after death (paratra).
In the didactic discourse of the Śānti Parva, Vyāsa states a moral principle: when a man acts wrongly for the sake of his wife due to dependence/attachment, he stores up sin and later experiences its painful results in both worlds.
