Śoka-śamana: Kṛṣṇa’s Consolation and Nārada’s Exempla to Sṛñjaya
Chapter 29
दर्शैश्न पूर्णमासैश्न चातुर्मास्यै: पुनः पुन: । अयजद्धयमेधेन सहसत्रं परिवत्सरान्,'सुना है कि उन्हें अग्निदेवसे वे सभी मनोवाञ्छित फल प्राप्त हो गये थे। उन्होंने एक हजार वर्षोतक बारंबार दर्श, पौर्णमास, चातुर्मास्य तथा अश्वमेध यज्ञोंका अनुष्ठान किया था
darśaiś ca pūrṇamāsaiś ca cāturmāsyaiḥ punaḥ punaḥ | ayajadd hayamedhena sahasraṁ parivatsarān ||
Vāyu said: “Again and again he performed the new-moon and full-moon sacrifices, as well as the seasonal Cāturmāsya rites; and for a thousand years he kept offering the Aśvamedha sacrifice.”
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse highlights steadfast adherence to prescribed sacred duties (yajñas) over time, implying that sustained, disciplined practice is central to dharma and to the accumulation of religious merit.
Vāyu describes a figure who repeatedly performed regular lunar and seasonal sacrifices and continued performing the Aśvamedha for a thousand years, emphasizing extraordinary ritual commitment and its implied spiritual or worldly fruits.
