Householder Primacy and the Royal Duty of Punishment
अब तुम शीघ्र ही बाहुदा नदीके तटपर जाकर विधिपूर्वक देवताओं, ऋषियों और पितरोंका तर्पण करो। भविष्यमें फिर कभी अधर्मकी ओर मन न ले जाना ।। तस्य तद् वचन श्रुत्वा शंखस्य लिखितस्तदा । अवगाह्वापगां पुण्यामुदकार्थ प्रचक्रमे
aba tvaṁ śīghraṁ hi bāhudā-nadīke taṭe para gatvā vidhipūrvakaṁ devatānāṁ ṛṣīṇāṁ ca pitr̥ṇāṁ ca tarpaṇaṁ kuru | bhaviṣyati punaḥ kadācit adharmasya or manasā na netavyam || tasya tad-vacanaṁ śrutvā śaṅkhasya likhitas tadā | avagāhya apagāṁ puṇyām udakārthaṁ pracakrame ||
Śaṅkha said: “Go at once to the bank of the Bāhudā river and, in due ritual order, offer libations to the gods, the seers, and the ancestors. In the future, do not ever again let your mind turn toward unrighteousness.” Hearing Śaṅkha’s words, Likhita then entered the sacred river and set about obtaining water for the prescribed rites.
