Bhishma said: Once, rising early in the morning, he wished to bathe in pure water. He went to the bank of the Gaṅgā that flows from Dhruvadvāra and then descended into it to bathe—an act reflecting the disciplined, purificatory conduct expected in a life ordered by dharma.

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dharmic discipline through morning rising and ritual purification—outer cleanliness serving as a support for inner restraint and right conduct.

A person (as recounted by Bhīṣma) rises at dawn, goes to the Gaṅgā said to flow from Dhruvadvāra, and enters the river to bathe.
