आकाशे ददृशे ज्योतिरुद्यतार्चि:समप्रभम् । तयो: समीप त॑ प्राप्तं॑ प्रत्यदुश्यत भारत,उदित होते हुए सूर्यके पास ही आकाशमें उन्हें द्वितीय सूर्यके समान एक दिव्य ज्योति दिखायी दी, जो प्रज्वलित अग्निशिखाके समान प्रकाशित हो रही थी। भारत! वह ज्योति क्रमश: उन दोनोंके समीप आती दिखायी दी
ākāśe dadṛśe jyotir udyatārciḥ-samaprabham | tayoḥ samīpaṃ tat prāptaṃ pratyadṛśyata bhārata ||
Bhīṣma said: In the sky there appeared a radiant light, blazing with a brilliance like a rising flame. O Bhārata, it was seen drawing near to those two, as though a second sun had come close to the newly risen sun—an awe-inspiring, divine splendor approaching them step by step.
भीष्म उवाच
The verse underscores how extraordinary, luminous phenomena are framed as meaningful signs within dharma discourse: divine radiance is not mere spectacle but a narrative marker that the moral-spiritual order is actively present, guiding or confirming the path of the righteous.
Bhīṣma describes a striking vision in the sky: a blazing, sunlike divine light appears and is seen moving closer to “those two,” heightening the sense of an omen or celestial visitation within the ongoing Shānti Parva narration.
