Indra and Namuci on grief, composure, and inevitability

प्रहर्ष: प्रीतिरानन्द: सुखं संशान्तचित्तता । अकुततश्रित्‌ कुतश्चिद्‌ वा चिन्तित: सात््विको गुण:,हर्ष, प्रीति, आनन्द, सुख और चित्तकी शान्ति-ये सब भाव बिना किसी कारणके स्वतः हों या कारणवश (भक्ति, ज्ञान, वैराग्य, सत्संग आदिके कारण) हों, सात्विक गुण माने गये हैं

Bhīṣma said: “Exultation, affection, bliss, happiness, and the calming of the mind—these states, whether arising of themselves without cause or arising from some cause—are regarded as sāttvika qualities (of sattva).”
