Prahlāda–Indra Saṃvāda: Kartṛtva (Agency) and Svabhāva (Nature) in the Causation of Karma

धृतिमानात्मवान्‌ बुद्धि निगृह्लीयादसंशयम्‌ । मनो बुद्धया निगृह्लीयाद्‌ विषयान्मनसा55त्मन:,बुद्धिमान्‌ एवं धीर पुरुषको चाहिये कि वह बुद्धिको निश्चय ही अपने वशमें करे; फिर बुद्धिके द्वारा मनको और मनके द्वारा अपनी इन्द्रियोंको विषयोंकी ओरसे रोककर अपने अधीन करे

A wise and steadfast person, possessed of self-mastery, should without doubt bring the buddhi (intellect) under control; then, by the buddhi, restrain the manas (mind), and by the mind restrain the senses from their objects, making them obedient to the self.
