Bhishma said: “O best of men, O king! Whatever deeds of Govinda the people who know the Purāṇas speak of, I shall recount those very deeds here.”
भीष्म उवाच
Bhishma grounds his forthcoming account in respected tradition: the deeds of Govinda are not private opinion but what authoritative Purāṇa-knowers commonly recount. Ethically, it models how dharma-teaching is supported by reliable sources and careful narration.
Addressing the king (Yudhishthira), Bhishma announces that he will now describe the celebrated deeds and divine exploits of Govinda (Krishna) as preserved in Purāṇic tradition, preparing the listener for a devotional-historical narration.
