तमुग्रमुग्रकर्माणमुग्रं कर्म समास्थितम् । ब्रह्मणोपचितिं कुर्वन् जघान पुरुषोत्तम:,उसका स्वभाव बड़ा ही उग्र था। वह सदा ही भयानक कर्म करनेवाला था। भयंकर कर्म करनेका निश्चय लेकर आये हुए उस असुरको पुरुषोत्तम भगवान् विष्णुने ब्रह्माजीका हित करनेके लिये मार डाला
Transliteration
tam ugram ugrakarmāṇam ugraṁ karma samāsthitam | brahmaṇopacitiṁ kurvan jaghāna puruṣottamaḥ ||
Translation
Bhishma said: That fierce being—terrible in nature and devoted to dreadful deeds—had resolved upon a fearsome course of action. For the welfare and protection of Brahmā, the Supreme Person (Viṣṇu) slew him.
