Adhyāya 2: Nārada’s Disclosure—Karṇa’s Training and the Brahmin’s Curse (Śānti-parva)

na hi me vyāhṛtaṁ kuryāt sarvaloko 'pi kevalam | gaccha vā tiṣṭha vā yad vā kārya te tat samācara ||

Nārada said: “Even if the whole world were to stand against it, no one can make my spoken word false. Go from here, or stay, or do whatever you think must be done—carry out that very course of action.”

Educational Q&A

The verse asserts the inviolability of truth spoken by a realized sage and emphasizes personal responsibility: one must proceed to act according to what is truly to be done (kārya), without trying to negate established truth.

Nārada speaks with firm authority, declaring that his statement cannot be overturned even by universal opposition, and then permits the listener to choose—go, stay, or act—while urging them to carry out their necessary duty.
