मनु-उपदेशः — भूत-उत्पत्ति, इन्द्रिय-निवृत्ति, तथा पर-स्वभाव-विवेकः

दूरगं बहुधागामि प्रार्थनासंशयात्मकम्‌ । मन: सुनियतं यस्य स सुखी प्रेत्य चेह च,जिसका दूरतक दौड़ लगानेवाला और अनेक विषयोंकी ओर जानेवाला कामनायुक्त संशयात्मक मन अच्छी तरह वशमें हो जाता है, वह मनुष्य इहलोकमें तथा मरनेके बाद परलोकमें भी सुखी होता है

dūragaṁ bahudhāgāmi prārthanā-saṁśayātmakaṁ | manaḥ suniyataṁ yasya sa sukhī pretya ceha ca ||

Bhishma said: The person whose mind—restless, running far, wandering toward many objects, driven by craving and riddled with doubt—has been firmly restrained and well-governed, becomes happy in this very life and also after death in the next world.
