स्वाध्यायमग्निसंस्कारमप्रमत्तो$नुपालय । सत्यं दमं च दानं च स्पर्थिष्ठा मा च केनचित्,“आप सावधान होकर स्वाध्याय, अन्निहोत्र, सत्य, इन्द्रियसंयम तथा दानधर्मका पालन कीजिये। किसीके साथ स्पर्धा न कीजिये
Transliteration
svādhyāyam agnisaṃskāram apramatto'nupālaya | satyaṃ damaṃ ca dānaṃ ca spardhiṣṭhā mā ca kenacit ||
Translation
Bhishma said: “Remain vigilant and faithfully maintain your daily disciplines—study of the sacred texts (svādhyāya), the rites connected with the sacred fire (agnihotra), truthfulness, self-restraint, and the duty of giving. Do not enter into rivalry with anyone.”
